What I'm Reading: Top Ten
I don't often talk about ideas I have in my head prior to actually writing them. That goes for this website, and life in general. However, several years ago I was talking to a friend about this idea I was putting together, something that sparked while reading a book that mentions a ranking for the top ten assassins in the world. I was forming this idea of the 11th ranked assassin deciding to kill their way to the top. While the story I wanted write was more of a comic themed book with supervillains in the role of assassins.
This friend I was talking to mentioned a book he read with a similar theme with the FBI's most wanted list. He suggested I give it a shot and while I've had the book in my library for about eight years, the idea began to lose it's appeal.
I may get around to it eventually, but I thought now would be a good time to read the book I was recommended all those years ago.
I've never heard of the author Ryne Douglas Pearson, however unlike normal when I write these, I decided to look up Pearson. Apparently he's got a good amount of books under his belt, including the Art Jefferson series that spans four books. The final book of the series "Simple Simon" was adapted into the movie "Mercury Rising" starring Bruce Willis. As a fan of the movie, that gives me some hope for this book, "Top Ten".
Come back soon (hopefully) for the update once I've finished reading. Along with the update, I will also be debuting a new rating system that better reflects the types of reviews I'm creating for these segments.
As always, keep reading, and enjoy it.
