Good News Everyone!
The second short story I ever had published in an anthology is now available for digital download. The story “No Lights” was a fun one to write, as the circumstances were a little odd to say the least.
I was still in high school when I wrote “No Lights” and there were some similarities between the story, and the origins of me writing it. The story takes place in my bedroom from my parent's home, a room that frequently lost power during heatwaves while the rest of the house enjoyed the artificial cold of air conditioners. Same as the story, I had a fan plugged into the living room as an insufficient means of cooling me off. Unlike the main character, when I can't sleep, I write.
With no lights, and pre-cellphone era, my only solution was to write with a flashlight nestled in the crook of my neck. Finding a little bug on my chest, the story practically wrote itself.
“No Lights” was originally published in the short story anthology, Isolation published by Post Mortem Press on December 26th 2010
You can purchase your digital copy of the story for $0.99 (I miss the cent symbol) at this link.
Keep reading, and enjoy life.
