National Poetry Month: Bonus Poem

National Poetry Month: Bonus Poem

In honor of National Poetry Month (which I’m still not sure is a real thing) I challenged my fiance, Sable Diakos, to write a poem, or poems, that I’ll feature here. I didn’t think she’d take me up on it, but I’m glad she did.

Below is her first poem in years, and I’m sure you’ll agree, I can’t wait for more.

She saw the world through the lens of a camera

And explored the wonders of natures splendor.

In shards of grass she captured the sweet morning dew

While those whom she knew rested in deep slumber.

*

She saw the world through the lens of a camera

And captured the drops of fresh morning rain,

And although the clouds turned natural light to shades of gray

It was her aura that captured the light in the most mysterious way.

*

She saw the world through the lens of a camera

Bringing unexplainable joy and peace where ever she'd go,

And somehow, those around her

Would never even know.

*

She saw the world through the lens of a camera

Knowing this moment too would soon be forgotten,

But in her own way, she brought lost moments and memories together

In hopes that some could last as long as forever.

Remember to keep reading, and enjoy life.
