Hot Takes Now 6/21/2019

Welcome to a new edition of Hot Takes Now, and let’s jump right into my thoughts about developments on Raw and Smackdown.

For Raw, I’m going to focus on the Universal Championship, and the special guest referee for the match at Stomping Grounds between champ, Seth Rollins, and unlikely number one contender, Baron Corbin. With Baron being able to choose the ref, the likely outcome would be to pick Shane McMahon, but I really don’t want him involved in yet another storyline, same goes for Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar, although they seem just as likely. Being that Seth has been savagely beating all potential refs, the smart thing would be for Baron to keep his selection a secret until just before the match. They could even make a spectacle of it, Baron introduces a dozen low and mid-tier wrestlers, all dressed in ref shirts. Then, just before the match actually starts, one of them, like Jinder Mahal, motions for the bell to be rung and Corbin goes on the offensive. That’s what I’d like to see happen, but what I actually think is going to happen, is that Corbin is going to choose The Revival as dual refs and they announce if Seth is disqualified, Baron gets the belt. This will prevent Seth from actively taking out one of The Revival, as the other can then call for the bell. Instead, Baron will accidentally distract or blind one ref, and allowing Seth to get rid of the other. With only one ref, Seth can injure the remaining, forcing a real ref to come to the ring.

Onto the Smackdown side of things, I want to take a look at the Women’s Championship. Not so much the match at the horribly named PPV, but instead all of the things Alexa Bliss has been saying about Bayley. Alexa has been painting the champ as a heel, clearly hoping to gain Nikki Cross’ trust, but what if Bayley actually has been doing everything Alexa has been saying? I mean what kind of babyface champion uses a poster of herself as a mirror? Clearly the actions of a heel. Maybe not this Sunday, but expect Bayley to show her true colors, stabbing Nikki Cross in the back. Mind you, none of this means I think Bliss will turn face; this is more about Bayley turning heel through Bliss.

That’s it for this edition of Hot Takes Now, come back for more bold wrestling predictions. Remember to keep reading, and enjoy life.
